How to burn:
Burning resin incense properly involves a few specific steps and materials. Here's how you can do it:
### Materials Needed:
1. **Charcoal Discs**: Specially made for burning incense.
2. **Incense Burner**: A heat-resistant container, often filled with sand or ash.
3. **Tongs**: For handling the hot charcoal.
4. **Lighter or Matches**: To light the charcoal.
5. **Resin Incense**: Such as frankincense.
### Steps:
1. **Prepare the Burner**:
- Fill your incense burner with sand or ash to insulate it from the heat of the charcoal and to stabilize the charcoal disc.
2. **Light the Charcoal Disc**:
- Hold the charcoal disc with tongs and light it with a lighter or match.
- The charcoal will start to spark and crackle as it lights. This process takes about a minute.
- Once the sparking stops, place the charcoal in the burner on top of the sand or ash.
3. **Wait for the Charcoal to Heat**:
- Let the charcoal sit for a few minutes until it is fully heated and covered with a layer of grayish-white ash. This indicates that it is ready.
4. **Add the Resin Incense**:
- Place a small amount of resin incense (a few granules) on top of the hot charcoal.
- The resin will start to melt and release fragrant smoke.
5. **Enjoy the Aroma**:
- The resin will continue to smolder and release its scent for a while. You can add more resin as needed.
### Tips:
- **Ventilation**: Make sure you have good ventilation in the area where you are burning the incense to avoid excessive smoke buildup.
- **Safety**: Always use a heat-resistant surface and never leave burning charcoal unattended.
- **Quantity**: Start with a small amount of resin and add more as needed to control the intensity of the fragrance.
By following these steps, you can safely and effectively enjoy the aromatic benefits of burning resin incense like frankincense.
